Where have you been all my life. I love you.
Sincerely,
Your newest friend... Angie
Last week around the time I dreamt up this beautiful little blog, I discovered Craigslist. Since then, I have fallen deep into an obsession of checking it constantly. You never know when someone is going to list the next best treasure for ten bucks. More specifically, I was looking for the perfect coffee table. You see I have this corner of my house that holds an old floral couch which I have tried to cover and make my own. Once we moved into this house however my dogs decided to make it their own. It's close to the window which is perfect for looking out when we are away.
So I have decided to demote the couch to the basement and revamp this corner. I want to make it a sitting area where in a perfect dream world, my family can read books, catch up on magazines, sip coffee, and enjoy the view. A little oasis if you're catching my drift. Anywhooo... back to the coffee table. After several days of obsessing on Craigslist, I FOUND it. My Mom and I picked it up this weekend. It's more perfect than I could have ever dreamed of and I got it for $25! Below you will find my Mark using a belt sander to strip the stain. We did this because my little sander would of taken a while and I wanted to put it in the house ASAP when I got home from Portland.
Isn't she pretty all sanded down! I know Lucy will love this new addition.
Last night we moved her into the house. I have big plans to make floor cushions and poufs to set around it. All of which I promise to blog about! For the time being I am using these two awesome old trunks I picked up at a local rummage sale for cheap, $1 cheap! They look kinda cool.
So I still have to sand the legs down and decide how to finish the table. Cole doesn't want me to paint it just white because he thinks I'm going overboard with all the white (I think the horns did him in). So, I was thinking of a white wash. I have never accomplished this before so if you know how to do it please let me know. I need all the help I can get.
I also bought two chairs from Craigslist and thanks Dad for picking them up for me by the way. I plan on reupholstering them. Another blog to be since I have never reupholstered a chair. Oh My!
So lets call this a post in process. Here's to my new sitting area/coffee table! If you have any suggestions on how to finish the table I would love to hear it. P.S. I'm sitting in the red chair typing this post and I already love my new little haven, cheers! Or as Cole would say, "Prost!"
Oh my gosh, I am SO excited to see all your upcoming DIY's, especially the reupholstered chairs. Your blog is AWESOME. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading... I love the feedback and I love that you can't wait for more. I promise plenty of entertainment with the chairs since I have no idea as to what I am getting myself into.
